Eek!! I know I haven't done one of these posts for a while but I do still (try to) religiously stick to a budget of £250 a month for my clothes, shoes, accessories (I'm allowed to carry-over from month to month).
Why? I think I went into detail in my first "Shopping Edit" post but basically because I get to go guilt-free shopping! If it's within my budget, that I set and know I can afford, then it's fair game. If it's a bigger purchase and I've already spent my budget there needs to be a good reason why I buy the item. This may sound a little rigid and boring but I've actually found it gives me a lot of freedom when it comes to shopping and any feelings of "guilt". It surprises me how many people have no idea what they spend their money on....call me a geek but I love to budget!! Maybe I'll do a post on that at some point.
Anyway, this is what I bought in March:
1. Grey Skinny Jeans | Next £18
I got these for their comfy fit and because I don't own any other grey trousers/skinny jeans. When I took them to the till I noticed there was a slight hole by one of the belt loops and they gave me 10% off (originally £20). I love the material they're made from, really soft and stretchy. Great for casual looks.
2. Mint Skinny Jeans | Zara £29.99
I bought a pair of mint skinny jeans from Dorothy Perkins around this time last year and wore them all spring/summer. Unfortunately when I went to try them on this year I noticed that they are too big! Whilst I'm pleased to have lost a few pounds I'm a bit worried this is going to happen with all my summer clothes...... Anyway I saw these in Zara and really liked the softness of the denim and the mint colour. I wore them at the Easter BBQ on Sunday, literally can't get enough.
3. Black Cropped Trousers | Limited Collection by Marks and Spencer £32.50
This is a bit of a similar story to above, these are a re-buy. Sadly the Warehouse ones I bought last year are too big. In the spring I love to wear smart, cropped black trousers with a nice top/shirt, ballet pumps and my Banana Republic mac for work so I needed another pair! I got these ones because I liked the fit, and they have this cute leather detailing around the waist and pockets. Now all I need is the weather to warm up so I can put my winter tights away!
4. Black Heels | Autograph Collection by Marks and Spencer £45
M&S have got some great shoes. Seriously, you should check them out if you haven't already. A work shoe needs to fulfil the following criteria for me: 1. Be comfortable - if I'm walking around all day in them I HAVE to be comfy 2. Be stylish - unfortunately criteria #1 can mean that you end up wearing "granny" shoes to work, not a good look. My old Nine West ones feel a bit too big these days (is it possible to lose weight off your feet?!), I could have just bought some insoles but when I saw these M&S ones I thought they fitted the bill perfectly. They're a good height and I like the little patch of snakeskin detail, a nice touch for spring/summer.
5. Chambery Shirt | H&M £19.99
I must be one of the last girls on the planet to own a Chambery Shirt, and I do absolutely LOVE it, haven't stopped wearing it since I bought it. As a rule, I don't own many shirts - I have big boobs so if I find a shirt that fits them it normally is humongous everywhere else and I just don't feel good in it. Having re-pinned a hundred pictures on Pinterest with Chambery shirts in, I bit the bullet. I don't think I'll ever wear it buttoned-up but I love layering it with t-shirts and a leather jacket. I also really like the "wash" of this one, it goes with everything.
6. Pink Blazer | H&M £24.99
A bright blazer for spring was on my wish list, so when I saw this one I tried it on immediately. I really like the fit and have worn it a few times already. I love blazers generally, I'm now looking out for a white/stone coloured one.
7. Cream Jumper | H&M £14.99
Please excuse the photo of this jumper, I fished it out of the dirty washing basket to snap a photo for this post and it looks really crumpled and horrible!! In real life it's a really nice jumper, great fit and I like the style a lot. Cream goes with everything so I'm sure this will be a spring wardrobe staple for me.
8. Rings | Next £8
I saw these by the till and thought they we really cute. I'm wearing quite a bit of gold jewellery at the moment but don't really have any rings that go with it. These are cheap and I'm sure won't last long but I'm enjoying wearing them at the moment.
9. Skinny Jeans | Miss Selfridge £38
I have a serious love-affair with Miss Selfridge jeans, they are THE BEST fit. These were another re-buy. My Dorothy Perkins lighter-wash ones from last year are too big and I love this colour of denim, I really missed not having them as part of my wardrobe, now they're back I haven't stopped wearing them.
This little lot came to £231.46, so I'm well within budget. I think I was under in Feb as well, I may do a Jan/Feb Shopping Edit re-cap just so you can see where I am for the year.
What did you buy in March? Do you have a clothes budget?
