I'd heard of Pop-Up restaurants but never experienced one before....until Saturday night!
I follow a blog called Bristol Culture, they did a post on pop-up restaurants and after having a scout around online I decided to try Belle & Grant @ No9 who were hosting a night at Cordial & Grace in Clifton Village.
So it doesn't get too confusing I'll talk about the venue first and then food after.
Cordial & Grace is a lovely cafe with a difference! You can rent sewing machines by the hour in the sewing room downstairs, and then upstairs by the entrance is the cafe. Considering it only normally opens during daylight hours, it transformed into an evening venue really well. Maria, the owner was also on-hand to chat to us all and tell a bit more about the space and concept of Cordial & Grace.
Onto the food! Belle & Grant cooked up a storm using seasonal produce.
Amuse Bouche: Caesar Tartlet
Starter: Smoked Chicken Broth
Fish: Crab & Fennel Salad
Main : Lamb with Spring Vegetables
Refresher: Elderflower Gremolata
Dessert: Rhubarb & Custard
Cheese: Ewe's curd with Honey & Edible Rose Petals
It all tasted delicious, but my favourite was the Rhubarb and Custard dessert. The contrast of the tangy rhubarb against the creamy custard was divine.
We bought our own wine (£2 corkage) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves whilst being waited on hand and foot!
If you haven't already tried a pop-up restaurant experience I would definitely recommend it. For £30 per person you can't go too far wrong. I can't wait to get a big group of us together and go again!
NOTE: Belle & Grant @ No9 and Cordial & Grace have no idea who I am. I am not a professional restaurant critic. All thoughts expressed are my own.
