I absolutely, under no circumstances believe that I am some kind of “fashionista” but I do like to think I have an eye for what looks good on me and as you will come to discover, this girl loves a bargain! I think I have pretty simple tastes, and a massive penchant for neutrals but I’m trying to break that cycle and embrace some of the trends that are out there for Spring/Summer 2012.
1. Zebra Print Pumps (Oasis Sale, £18) To be worn mostly with my skinny jeans but would also look cute with cropped skinnies or skirts when the weather warms up. They’re black and white so quite literally go with EVERYTHING, and add a little fun to an outfit.
2. Coral Vest Top (Oasis, £12) This is so versatile and ticks the box for that pastels trend. Can be worn tucked in, out or layered under other tops or a jacket. Summer wardrobe staple!
3.White Blouse (Mango, £49.99) This was a bit of a splurge but…..I LOVE this top so it’s worth it!!! It’s so flattering. Needs a vest underneath but you can go so many ways with it.
4. Coral/Pink Dress (Miss Selfridge Sale, £22) This will be a great dress for summer, and yet again it’s really versatile. It could be worn with pumps and a denim jacket for a daytime look or heels and some statement jewellery for the evening.
5. Stripy/Nautical Blazer (Mango, £45.99) I love stripes! This blazer is super cute and can be dressed up or down. I like wearing something like this at the weekend with dark blue skinny jeans, neutral vest top and pumps. Classic!
6. Yellow and Grey Bag (Banana Republic Sale, £34.65) This bag is slightly out of my comfort zone and may be my only nod to the “brights” trend. I want to get a yellow belt to go with it and then this will be my spring colour-pop.
7. Mint Skinny Jeans (Dorothy Perkins, £25) To wear with nude heels and floaty white tops (like my mango one) on a Summers Eve, dreamy!
8. Nude Skinny Belt (Banana Republic Sale, £14) Another wardrobe staple. I’ll wear this with trousers and jeans but may also use it to layer tops and cardigans in the Spring.
All this for £221.63. I try to limit myself to spending £250 a month on clothes and feel that all of these pieces will help update my Spring/Summer wardrobe in a practical, stylish and on-trend way.
What Spring trends are you going to embrace? What’s your monthly budget for clothes?
